for this new and exciting musical experience! . . . Jacinta Luis Claude Lavergne Drums Since his arrival on the music scene of jazz in the late 80's, Claude Lavergne has continued to deepen and enrich his game to the battery. A graduate of Concordia University, he is one of Montreal's and Quebec's most in demand drummers, and is constantly looking for new ideas, new sounds. Having gained experience working with leading figures in the Montreal jazz scene such as Dave Turner, Nelson Symonds, Normand Guilbeault, Jean Beaudet, Charles Ellison, Yannick Rieu, Rene Lussier and others, Claude is now considered a self-taught musician. In 2000 he took part in the session of intensive jazz at the infamous "Banff International Center for the Arts" in Alberta, to explore new avenues in the company of Joey Baron, Joe Lovano, Mark Feldman, Tony Malaby, Ben Monder and Hugh Fraser. He has performed in Montreal with Archie Shepp, Bob Mover, Dave Young, Michael Gauthier and Normand Guilbeault (Riel, Advocacy and musical Mingus Erectus - a tribute to Charles Mingus - both on the label Ambiances Magnetics). With his cronies Aron Doyle, trumpet, saxophone and Frank Lozano Tommy Babin on bass, Claude is a member of FACT group, which recorded an album of the same name on the label Effendi. He formed his own group, The Golden Number, which also features Jon Gearey (7-string guitar and sequencer) and Aron Doyle (trumpet and flugelhorn). |
