Jacinta Luis Evan Green Sitar and Guitar Guitarist and Sitarist, Evan has studied, performed and recorded in a wide spectrum of musical styles and traditions. More than just a simple participant, he has performed and arranged for ensembles ranging from the music of Latin America (the Andes, Venezuela), north Africa(morocco), India(sitar) to Indonesia(gamelan of Bali). These are now a part of his musical make-up. Bulgaria, Japan, China…are also traditions he has arranged for guitar and or small ensembles. His rather eclectic nature stems from his studies at New England Conservatory where, although officially a classical guitar performance major, he participated in the Third Stream and non-western music ensembles and studied Sitar with Peter Row. Evan also studied jazz guitar and arranging at Berklee and composition with Alan Crossmann at Concordia University. He has performed notably for the Montreal jazz festival, W.O.M.A.D., New Music America, Ryhtmes du Monde, Musique Multi-Montreal, Les Francofolies and the Societé de Musique Contemporaine du Québec. In the studio he has recorded for Kat Dyson, Benoit Charest, NEema…and for the film Les Bons Débarras. An Independant film, Trajectoire Sauvage, featuring Evan was also presented at Le Festival du Film du monde(2006). He also composed the score for the film and theatre: La Fourmi et le Volcan ( Festivals of Festivals, Toronto), La Roulotte, Festival du theatre pour enfants. |
